Beth Gilpin was beautiful, vivacious, loving, and active in many community projects. In her career as a Realtor, Beth found homes for many St. Tammany and Greater New Orleans families. She understood the importance of every family having a home and what that gift means to the success of a family. With her passing, a group of Beth's friends and colleagues gathered to honor Beth’s legacy. We were searching for a way to remember her spirit and God sent us the answer – Habitat for Humanity. What better way to honor her memory than to build a home for a family in need.
East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity works with God and people everywhere to build simple, decent, affordable housing for the communities of Slidell, Pearl River and Lacombe, Louisiana. The houses are sold to low-income partner families and are financed with affordable, no-interest mortgages. There are dozens of reasons why so many people get involved with the work of Habitat in their community but the most apparent is the tangible result of hope and change that happens when a group of people come together to help a family in need.
The crisis of housing is daunting but you can help us realize our vision of ending substandard housing in our community. Beth understood that every family should have at least a simple, decent place to call home.
