A Proud United Way Partner Agency

Women Build

Help a local family build their own simple, decent, affordable home.

I can't swing a hammer, what else I can do?

1.  Provide lunches for the volunteers who are building
2.  Collect donations for ESTHFH.  If you can donate even $10 that would reduce the cost of the house.  Challenge your friends to help out!!!

Volunteers, novice or experienced, are encouraged to come out and build the new home.  Your gifts of time and talent will honor your loved ones by giving the gift of home!

Did you know...

  • 21,392 children 3 years and younger have stunted growth due to their families being on waiting lists for housing assistance, which forces the parent to decide between paying for rent and heating or food for their children (“Not Safe at Home,” Boston Medical Center)
  • Children in poverty go to school less ready to learn to read, and from that early point they consistently do less well in school and are less likely to go on to college (“Not Safe at Home,” Boston Medical Center)
  • 38 % of Habitat homeowners said their new Habitat home had a positive effect on their children’s health, including fewer trips to the Doctor’s and Hospitals (HFH E. King Cty, WA)
  • 63% indicated there was a positive change in their children’s school grade – children thrive and flourish in a safe, decent environment (HFH E. King Cty, WA)

Who can participate?

Anyone who wants to learn more about construction! Come by yourself or with a group of friends. Volunteers can register by completing the registration form and submitting it to the Habitat office. All volunteers must by 18 years or older.

What do we have to do?

  • Volunteers must register with the Habitat Office or online here. Each build day has
only a limited number of volunteer spaces available so be sure to return your form as
    soon as possible.

“I hope you’re proud of yourself for the times you’ve said, ‘yes,’ when all it meant was extra work for you and was seemingly helpful only to somebody else.” – Fred Rodgers
